Description

Birds around Woodford. A Welcome Swallow perched on a strand of a barbwire fence taking a brief rest stop. They are most often seen airborne, swooping continuously catching tiny flying insects; over water is a being a favorite area. The little bird has its back to the camera but looking to the right. His back is facing the camera. The throat and frons are rufous orange. The eye is black with a small dark feather area extending from it towards the black bill. The crown is black and the nape is shiny blue. The back is glossy blue-black and the wings dark brown-black. The forked tail is stubby and black. Size 14-15cm. The background colours are soft browns overall with the soft greens of distant foliage to the right of the image. Woodford Qld.
